The HarperCollins Archive Service is responsible for the preservation of the records and history of the company. We provide both a deposit and retrieval service for all Company departments across the UK. The mission of the Archive Service is to manage, preserve, ensure access to and promote the extensive use of records that support information needs and document the unique history of the company.
We are currently seeking interns on a paid full time or part time basis to support the full time Archivist at our Glasgow offices. You will be assigned to specific tasks and projects within the Archive over a period of approx. 4 months. This is a great opportunity to get some hands on practical experience in a company archive with a heritage stretching back 200 years.
- Cataloguing - Historical Archive
- Sorting material within the Historical archive – biblical, educational and Non- Fiction titles
- Listing and re-ordering books with general conservation or repackaging
- Bookfile Backlog Project
- Sorting and cataloguing 2 copies of every HC title from the past 1 year
- Cataloguing – Mills and Boon
- Working on a small collection of Mills and Boon books and other media to create a simple catalogue.
- Document the work to create possible social media content to celebrate M&B heritage.
- Work within an Archival setting
- Working to archival standards such as ISAD(G)
- Cataloguing/ Box-listing
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work unsupervised
- Ability to use own initiative
- Knowledge of archival standards and procedures
